Dirt

Dirt

(Reflection)

     I enjoy working with dirt because it relaxes me and it is fun. I especially love digging.

     If  the land of farmers was being taken here in Serbia, many families would become notably poorer and unhappier, especially if their only occupation was farming. I agree with Paul Stamets' analogy because we are ruining dirt and with dirt our whole planet including us humans, as a virus hurts its host and when the host dies the virus dies with it.
 
     We should take care about every piece of  fertile land by  preserving  it of any type of contamination and by cultivating policulture instead of monoculture on it. Wherever we can, we should  reduce areas covered by concrete and asphalt. I do think that if everyone tries their best to conserve dirt we will succeed. People usually think that its not important to try conserving dirt because nobody else is trying and its not enough for one person to try, but if everyone changes their opinion, we would have millions and millions of people trying their best to conserve dirt. Governments  should make a regulation to decrease monoculture cultivation and pesticide usage which would reduce the amount of ruined soil. They can also stimulate reforestation of some areas. Everyone should have in mind that dirt is a natural habitat for many animals. When dirt is contaminated or when it dries out, the animals will either die, or escape to another place, which isn't their natural habitat, causing the food chain to change, making some animals or plants extinct. This would destroy the balance of the whole ecosystem.
   
     After this film, I feel that I should encourage my family and other people to have their own gardens with a variety of plants and that everyone should have a place to leave organic material to become dirt. Now I know that monocultures damage dirt in many ways as well as different chemicals. If mankind continue to destroy dirt, there would be a shortage of food everywhere in the world.

SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket is in position for a wet dress rehearsal at Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.The Falcon 9 rocket carrying the Dragon space shuttle is going to launch on Sunday, Oct. 7, in Florida. It's mission is to bring new experimenting materials to the SpaceX space station and bring the observations to Earth. The Arabidopsis plant's cell walls mutate in microgravity and it can nearly overcome gravity.

The Emperor Tamarin lives in the southwest Amazon Basin, in east Peru, north Bolivia and in the west Brazilian states of Acre and Amazonas. 

It has a long white mustache extending to it's shoulders. 

This tamarin is a small animal which can way up to 400 grams.

ONE PERSON ADDS 37 MILLION BACTERIA TO A ROOM

Every hour, a single person adds 37 million bacteria of different sizes and even some fungi to a room, so most of our diseases, we get indoor. A lot of those bacteria live on the floor, in our rugs and carpets. Many Americans stay indoor more than 90% of their time.
I think this is because people cough, sneeze and breathe in the same room and all of those microbes stay inside. People should not stay indoor that much, but go outside, because there, the bacteria spreads through the atmosphere and there is less chance to get sick.

        Each cell of our body has averagely two meters of DNA wraped in diameter of
less then ten micro meters in its nucleus. It is nucleic acid, the most important
micro molecule for our life. It could be described as two spiral strands of polymers
which are bridged with almost parallel bonds so DNA looks like spiral ladder.
Organized in chromosomes, DNA makes our genes.
Structure of DNA is provided by alkaline proteins called histones. DNA strands
are wrapped around histones in highly ordered way. When our cells are dividing,
each DNA chain is copied and entry of new histones in nucleus is necessary.
This process is directed by protein Codanin-1 which detects signals from DNA
and regulate histone amount and transportation. The Mutation of the Codanin -1 gene is
responsible for the defect of histone transportation system. Red blood cells are the most
sensitive to the Codanin 1 gene mutation. This is the main reason of rare anemic
disease CDAI where development of new red blood cells is disturbed. There
is still not clear scientific explanation why the other cells in our body are not
sensitive to Codanin-1 gene mutation.

          The quality of our lives and how long we live depends on DNA. Understanding the mechanisms which control DNA structure and activity of our genes is crucial for solving the problems of many hereditary diseases.
